Of all the years to have an extra day it had to be 2020. Algeria’s Hirak marked its first anniversary. It’s still going strong, but it’s not clear where it’s going. Meanwhile the energy sector is trying to gin up some interest to uncertain effect. Libya is war, war, and more war. And it appears to be on the cusp of becoming much worse. And Mauritania is moving definitively into a new(er) political era. At the same time, though, the business environment may become a little bit more challenging for Mauritania’s foreign partners.
